Impact Boom Elevate+ Accelerator Program 2023

Yoga on the Inside is honoured to have been selected as one of Queensland's High Potential Impact Enterprises  to join the Elevate+ Accelerator Program to Take Social and Environmental Issues.

My overall goal during the next 6 months of this program is to refine the purpose of Yoga on the Inside, the work that we do, the people that we serve, and the impact that this work has the potential to create for people (especially those who are marginalised) we connect with.

This is a COHORT OF 13 DYNAMIC SOCIAL ENTERPRISES THROUGHOUT SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND. These social enterprises are LED BY PURPOSE-LED ENTREPRENEURS, EACH OF THESE ENTERPRISES, ARE RESPONDING TO A VAST RANGE OF ISSUES & CHALLENGES IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND BEYOND.

I’m honoured and humbled to be a part of this cohort where we get to share and learn with one another and help each other succeed and grow for the betterment of the communities we ALL live in.

Media Release 2018: Accessible yoga for prisoners....and more about how Yoga on the Inside was born

From humble beginnings and a passion for karma-yoga (yoga of service) Yoga on the Inside was born.

The opportunity and need to make yoga accessible to those members of our society who are often seen as underserving, is what had driven me (Sonia) to bring this trauma-informed yoga practice to this incarcerated population of individuals.   The NEIS Program (run via Sarina Russo) is what helped launch this passion-project of mine, along with the never-wavering support from the international Prison Yoga Project.

Providing prisoners with a means and an opportunity to learn about compassion to themselves and to others is at the heart of what we are able to achieve with this program.
